What is Curology?
Curology is “skincare made simple”. Ready to fight off your acne and breakouts, Curology brings skincare to your phone by allowing you to have a dermatologist at your fingertips. Curology makes skincare easy, all you have to do is take side profile pictures of your face. A professional dermatologist takes these pictures and does a professional assessment of your skin. Through their app, you will know your skin type, products that will benefit your skin, and products that will hurt your skin. Not only will Curology tell you what and what not to use, they will also develop products with ingredients specifically made for your skin and have them delivered to your doorstep. If you visit their site or app, you will find the easy steps laid out and the testimonials of happy clients.

What Does Your Full Package Consist of?
In every full package, you can choose to have up to three products. All products are formulated primarily for your skin type by a professional dermatologist:
Cleanser - Curology’s cleaners wash your skin, leaving it feel clean but do not clog pores.
Serum - All serums are designed for your skin to fight acne and breakouts.
Moisturizer - Their moisturizes are also geared for you. Whether you have dry skin, oily skin, or combination they are said to leave skin feeling moisturized and also not clog pores.
Does it Work?
First Step
Sound too good to be true? I took it upon myself to find the real truth about curology and see if it is really worth the money. University of New Haven student Celece Laracuente battles with acne prone skin and was looking for a quick and affordable solution. After the multiple ads she scrolled through on Instagram, she finally decided to give the products a try.
The Process:
Download the app
Take 2 pictures of your skin, these are side profiles
Answer questions based off your skin
Await the results from your personal dermatologist
Receive results and product recommendations
Follow through with recommended skin regimen if desired (this is optional)
The Results
Upon receiving her results, Celece learned a lot about her skin that she did not previously know. For starters, she learned that she had oily skin and because of this many of the products that she had been using to clean and moisturize her face were not giving her type of skin benefits. Her results also gave her the option to try a custom line designed just for Celece to regulate her facial oils as well as provide moisture that will not add on to her already oily skin. Celece also adds, “I really liked how they allowed me to mix products that I already use with their products that are generated for me”. By paying a monthly fee of $25, Celece was able to pick and choose which products she wanted and which she did not need.
The Follow-Up
After having been using Curology for only two months, Celece says she has seen significant improvement in her skin. “I used to have a lot of breakouts on both sides of my cheeks, but I really haven’t seen too much activity since I started.” Celece adds that not only has she seen less breakouts but her skin naturally has been fighting down white heads before they fully appear. Of course with all the positives, Celece does mention that it was not all smooth sailing. Her skin had to take a little time to adjust to the change in her skin care regimen. As a result, she was forced to switch between different facial moisturizers as she felt her skin getting super dry over the first couple of week, “when I first started using Curology, I knew I wanted to use my own moisturizer but the first couple of days my skin got so dry from the serum.”
Two months later, Celece is still pleased with her results and has decided that she will continue to use her recommended regimen.

Pros & Cons
With any new routines we try there will always be some pros and cons that come along with it. With Curology here’s what we found.
Pros:
Skin care advice straight from your phone
A professional dermatologist examines your case
Try your first order for free when you pay shipping and handling
Results in as little as two months
Delivered straight to your doorstep
Products and ingredients listed out that will benefit your specific skin type
Cons:
May have dry skin due to switch up of ingredients
Monthly payments so this will be another bill
May waste current products that you already have after you find out they are not good for your skin

Conclusion
If you’re looking to try a new method to cure your acne, Curology can definitely be an option. They make shopping for products super easy and help reduce the stress of having to go to the doctor by allowing everything to be straight on your phone. You don’t even need to leave your home! Curology is also an affordable option, which is clear being that it is affordable for a full-time student. Although your skin may take some time to adjust to Curology’s recommendations, people have seen results. In Celece’s case she has seen great improvement in just two short months. Of course all skin types are different so it is important to do your own research and find what is best for you, however, Curology may not be a bad place to start.

Hi Erickah!
Coming from someone who does not typically venture outside their comfort zone in regards to facial cleaning products, I found this both informative and interesting. I really liked the Pros and Cons section, as I found it to be easily digested. I think it's very cool that this post was in a way an introduction to finding new skincare products, and am left most certainly willing to try Curology!
Hi Erickah!
What I have to say is I am a college student who has always struggled with acne. Learning more about Curology was always something I wanted to do, but always pushed off. One thing I have to say about the product is while it definitely shows the benefits you can get out of it sometimes the additional cost of $25 isn't always worth it to everyone. With that said I tried to find some more affordable options that are comparative to Curology. I'll link them below and let me know your thoughts! https://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/a/curology-alternatives/
